Read a Book! (As in GO read a book!)

All my posts seem to be about the beach lately, but I do do other things, like read. I heard somewhere that Americans don't read. Oh yeah, Steve Jobs said that. Well, I hope he's wrong. I read a lot and not only for school. Reading is important and it opens you up to the world. It's an important part of any education.

Now, I do read the classics and stuff, but once in a while I like a good paranormal romance or fantasy.

I just got through reading Portal (The Portal Chronicles) by Imogen Rose. AWESOME book! It's about a HS girl named Arizona who was living in NJ with her dad and suddenly woke up in CA in a car with her mother and younger sister (and her dog, Gertrude). She also had a new last name, new blonde hair and a completely new life!

Her mother had constructed a time machine, called a Portal, and she found herself living in the previous year and all of a sudden had a new dad, a new OLDER brother and a life she wasn't exactly comfy with. In her old life, she was a tough-as-nails Ice Hockey player and now she was a cheerleader with feelings!

Arizona is pretty upset about this change, wants to go back to Princeton, with her dad and even tries it once, but finds that she's not only in the past, but another dimension! Her dad is gone, but she finds herself getting involved in her new life. She joins the hockey team (but wears a pink helmet), starts to get along with her younger sister, with whom she didn't like much before, meets a cute guy and falls in love. But even as strange as all that is, it gets stranger still.

The story has lots of twists and turns to it and an unexpected ending, definitely set me up for the sequel, Equilibrium (which I just bought) I loved it!
